CES has gone a bit Patrick Bateman

For those in the tech world, and particularly those in the mobile space, the word convergence is bandied around a lot. Usually it means to add a function that is quite cool but not necessarily needed.

Sat nav. Wi-Fi. Bluetooth. MP3. Video. These have all been put into mobile handsets. Several of them have been merged into non phone devices such as the iPod Touch.

But there is a new one on the market. One that I never quite imagined could happen. And one that just leaves me questioning the rational of both the designers and the possible buyers.

Is there anyone else that thinks it all sounds a bit Patrick Bateman in American Psycho.
