Where was EML Wildfire in November?

Posted by Andrea Berghäll on 30th November 2012

It’s been a busy November filled with all sorts of conferences and a rather exciting charity event with Beeb favourite, Rory Cellan-Jones. Here’s a run down of what the EML Wildthings have been up to:

Darren headed to Paris to attend CARTES with our client Samsung. The conference showcased the latest in smart cards, contactless technology and NFC. Samsung was there to introduce the new CIPURSE card – an open standard that means you’ll be able to use one contactless card for all travel, anywhere in the world.

Hannah and Andrea met Chris Donkin from Mobile News on 6th November. Over bacon sandwiches they discussed subjects such as BYOD, unified communications and mobile apps.

Team Elance headed to the BBC studios on 7th November where CEO Fabio Rosati was interviewed by Europe business correspondent, Nigel Cassid on the subject of employment across Europe. You can see the interview on BBC Breakfast on the 30th November.

On 12th November a bunch of EML Wildthings spent an evening with Rory Cellan-Jones (@BBCRoryCJ), technology correspondent for the BBC, at an event we helped to organise for Children in Need. As well as hearing from Rory about what he sees as the main technology trends in play over the last few years, we were able to raise over £2,300 through ticket donations and a lively auction that saw audience members bid for some of Rory’s own gadgets. You can still donate here if you wish to support Rory’s fundraising efforts for Children in Need.

Several of our clients headed to Electronica 2012, the 25th international trade fair for electronics components, systems and applications, in Munich 13th-16th November. EML Wildfire Director Andrew Shepherd attended and you can read his take on the show here.

EML Wildfire was shortlisted for the International Campaign category at the PRCA awards held on 13th November. The shortlisted campaign was our great work launching a small computing revolution worldwide- Raspberry Pi’. We were up against some stiff competition including Airbus and Shell. Sadly we just lost out to American Express…not bad company to be in though.

Account Executive Katia attended the Future Horizons semiconductor training course on 19th November and returned to the office bursting with knowledge and a new love of chips.

Sam and Andy caught up with the Viral Ad Network team at #KittenCamp London 22nd November, where they explored the world of viral video stock exchanges. The most notable part of the event was a presentation from the team behind the excellent Bodyform viral.

Sam also met lots of start-ups and hipster creative-types at the Creative Art Network’s Internet Week Europe event in Shoreditch, which showcased global collaboration within the art world.

Debby and some of the team headed to the PRCA ‘Future of PR’ conference on 22nd November. Danny Whatmough, EML Wildfire’s Director of Digital Strategies, gave a presentation on the future of the PR agency.

Hannah, Mona and Joe took a trip to the Pocket Lint Awards 2012 on November 29th to see a round-up of the best new tech products launched this year and have play with a cool selection of smartphones.
