Well, we know that it has to happen sometime but this is what is said is going to happen on Wednesday when the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is powered up. The theory is that attempting to recreate the Big Bang will lead to a big black hole into which the earth and all on it will disappear.
The press are having a field day on this covering both the strong scientific angle and the doom and gloom side as well. As a techie I am fascinated by the concept of re-creating the start of the universe and all the information that will be gleaned from that. The financial cost is staggering but the scientific gain could well be worth it – provided it does not come to the worst-case scenario.
In case that does happen and this is my last blog ever I would just like to thank all of you who have read and commented on my input in the past – I appreciate it.
Anyway, whatever happens I am going to Swindon on Wednesday which seems appropriate at it is considered by many people to be a black hole.
