You know my views on how people can become so obsessed with social networking sites that they forget to communicate in the usual ways, such as picking up a phone. Well, two girls, 10 and 12, stuck in a storm drain in Australia chose to update their Facebook sites with the information rather than contacting the police or their family to rescue them. Fortunately a more responsible friend saw it, took it seriously and called the police. They could have been stuck there for a long time if no one bothered to check their profiles.
Are we bringing up a generation who do not know how to communicate in a ‘normal’ manner? Or, maybe I am the one that is wrong and sideways communication is the new ‘norm’.
