MWC – 5 unusual Barcelona watering holes

Posted by Louise Moran on 21st February 2012
  1. La Champagneria – make like a local and head to this dingy backstreet bar serving rosat cava and made-to-order bocadillos. Our favourite is the chorip án – a sandwich made with chorizo and great with spicy sauce.
  2. 41º – enjoy the industrial interiors and experimental cocktails at this glamorous bar attached to Tickets restaurant.
  3. El Bosc de les Fades – ‘forest of the fairies’ is the most unusual bar you’ll ever drink in, with optical illusions, waxworks, toadstool seats and a soundtrack of forest sounds.
  4. Bar Marsella – Follow in Hemmingway’s steps at this absinth bar, which looks like it possibly hasn’t had its windows cleaned since it opened back in 1820.
  5. Eclipse bar – this bar on the 26th floor of the W hotel has panoramic views of the city and harbour, but a price tag to match.
