Wildfire has been Plextek Consulting’s PR agency for more than 10 years. For the majority of that time we have run a successful, but traditional PR campaign focused mainly on building and maintaining awareness through a programme of news releases and article placements. With the PR world changing and Plextek having undergone an internal transformation we wanted to create a modern new approach targeting the medical sector that would ensure Plextek’s PR investment delivered measurable business impact.

Our Approach

Wildfire researched and wrote “Patient of the Future: 2020” a strategic vision paper outlining Plextek’s predictions and analysis of forward looking medtech trends in areas such as sensor technology, mHealth and virtual reality

  • The paper was bylined to Plextek’s Collette Johnson and was used as a platform to establish her industry status as a thought leader
  • Wildfire developed a portfolio of PR content to help launch and seed key snippets from the vision paper across the print, online and social media landscape with the goal of driving relevant traffic back to Plextek’s website to download the full vision paper
  • A tireless, proactive media sell in helped create interview any bylined article opportunities
  • Ongoing newsjacking tying vision paper themes into the breaking media agenda has extend the life of the paper long after its initial launch

Since creating and launching the vision paper we have had a lot of people talking about it to us and it has definitely raised our profile with the medtech community and opened doors to new business opportunities. The Wildfire team has been hugely proactive in securing a regular stream of media opportunities that has meant we’ve been able to milk every last bit of value from the paper content over a six-month period including huge high profile titles like Wired and Clinica.
