Angola Cables hires Wildfire to create a bold new African voice in the global telecom industry

Posted on 7th August 2018 under New business

Technology PR agency Wildfire has been appointed as the global PR advisor to Angola Cables — an Angolan telecommunications multinational engaged in the wholesale IP transit market through its network of data centres and subsea fibre optic cables (WACS, MONET and SACS).

Wildfire’s broad global remit covers Europe, North America and APAC and will also include close collaboration with three dedicated regional agencies in Angola, Brazil and South Africa (fellow PROI Worldwide member Atmosphere Communications).

Angola Cables’ subsea fibre optic cable network is a major enabler of IP transit and connectivity for EU companies needing to connect in to Africa, African companies connecting with Europe; and US companies connecting to South America/Brazil. Angola Cables’ new South Atlantic Cable System (SACS) is the first subsea cable in the Southern Hemisphere directly connecting Brazil to Africa.

Chris King, Agency Development Director at Wildfire, commented: “Angola Cables’ goal is to transform Angola into one of the leading telecommunication hubs on the African continent. They’re a young, disruptive business with huge potential to create a seismic shift in the balance of power in their industry by opening up new IP connectivity opportunities for global businesses facing the challenges of globalisation and digital evolution. This is the kind of challenging and exciting international brief that Wildfire excels at and thrives on.”

António Nunes , CEO, Angola Cables said: “As a relatively small, new entrant in a very competitive market packed with large and well-established incumbents, Angola Cables has to approach PR creatively if it is to capture the market’s attention. The Wildfire team understands this challenge and has really impressed us with their ideas, their knowledge of our market and its complexities, and most importantly their enthusiasm for our business and what we’re trying to achieve. We’re looking forward to a long and successful partnership.”
