Having been intimately involved with the last 3G spectrum auction, working with one of the prospective operators, I couldn’t miss the plans to liberalise the 2G spectrum which hit the news this week.  I wonder what the 3G licenses would have fetched if the major four operators at the time knew that their existing spectrum could have been used in this way.  Roll on 2009!  Perhaps they could use my favourite auction platform [eBay] to manage things this time?  Just think of the commission PayPal would deduct!

Anyway who needs 3G anyway – iPhone can’t use it so it can’t be necessary can it.  I wonder what Steve Jobs bought in Regent Street this week?
